Curation is a human activity
The typical technology startup tries to "scale" through automation.
After all, this formula has worked for the giant technology monsters. Twenty-five years ago, Google raised money to automate searching the entire Internet to capture and monetize everyone's eyeballs. Similarly, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple's iPhone have all grown fat gorging on the engagement of billions of people through extreme automation.
But this is not the only path to success. Not everything in life can or should be completely automated.
People want human experiences, and they want to create or curate these experiences for others. Some automation can make it easier, but ultimately, curation is a human activity. There's no substitute.
