how to subscribe to RSS feeds

RSS (or Atom) feeds are one of the best-kept secrets of the Internet.

Whatever websites you follow, online newspapers, magazines, blogs, podcasts, etc., you usually want to subscribe to them so that you can hear about it when they post new content. That's what an RSS reader lets you do. It's like your own, custom news feed.

The big platforms like Facebook, Instagram, etc., don't want you to use these. They would rather imprison you inside their walled gardens and feed you from their feedlot.

Here's how you can subscribe to RSS feeds.

If you're listening to podcasts on your phone, your app is probably already using RSS to find podcasts. Just add the name https://robot-cottage.bearblog.dev/feed into your app.

If not, there are many free RSS readers. An easy-to-use one is Feedly. Make a free "newsreader" account for yourself at feedly.com. You just need an email address to sign up. Add the name https://robot-cottage.bearblog.dev/feed into your Feedly newsreader.

The RSS feed lets you get all the newest blog posts whenever I post them.
